Some fish are totally blind, and have evolved to live without vision.

Around the world, in caves, the depths and muddy waters, are some very peculiar fish indeed. These fish, due to the lack of light, have evolved to move around without the use of sight, and have instead opted for other sense organs on the head body and tail.

Some make suction bursts with their mouths, and detect the returning waves to determine the location of nearby obstacles and prey, a lot like dolphins and bats. Others have specialised skin to detect what they’re touching, while others use their sensory organs to detect changes in pressure and current.

More information can be found on 5 different type of blind fish at this page by Aqua Views.
